Two cities 'split' by a bridge: "Compensation for the long construction site. And discounts on waste taxes."

The bridge on provincial road 54 is closed for construction, only a walkway remains.
Ferrara, November 7, 2025 – A call for proposals to compensate businesses located in Lido di Volano for the loss of revenue ; a temporary suspension of parking fees; and a reduction in the Tari and IMU taxes for businesses that have suffered and will suffer damage. These are some of the proposals tabled by the Democratic Party (PD) circles in the Po Delta area (Comacchio, Codigoro, Lagosanto, Mesola, Goro, and Fiscaglia). A lifeline for those on the Po di Volano bridge, a structure closed for construction for days now and which will reopen to traffic—fingers crossed—only at the end of May. The spokesperson for the proposals is Lorenzo Marchesini , of the Mesola Democratic Party circle and representative for the Democratic Party circles in the Po Delta area.
Divided countries, local earnings plummetEarnings plummet for some restaurants and businesses cut off by the work. Beach resort operators are facing damages, as the construction site will force them to forgo tourists for Easter, Easter Monday, April 25th, and most likely May Day as well. Residents, workers, and students are facing significant disruption. Those living near the bridge on Provincial Road 54 will be forced to take a long detour, an additional 48 kilometers .
The Democratic Party: "Solidarity and support for businesses""The Democratic Party of the Delta district and its administrators," the open letter signed by the Democratic Party circles states, "express solidarity and support for the businesses, residents, workers, and all those who live, work, or transit through Volano and its Lido every day, currently severely impacted by the closure of the bridge connecting them. This closure, if prolonged for several months, could lead to concrete and growing hardship, impacting the local economy and the quality of life of many people. Economic activities would be penalized, workers would be forced to take longer and more expensive alternative routes, tourists would be disoriented, and residents would be isolated. For this reason, we ask that all involved entities, from the Province to the Region, and the Municipalities, make every effort to reduce the negative impact and support the social and productive fabric of Lido di Volano."
"We ask for reopening by the end of March 2026"Hence, an appeal to the Province, led by Daniele Garuti, and Prefect Massimo Marchesiello to monitor the construction site, ensuring deadlines are met. "We request," they emphasize, "that the bridge be reopened by March 31, 2026. Disruptions are already occurring for businesses open even off-season; it is urgent that the Province improve road signage." Hence, a series of initiatives are being implemented, such as the temporary suspension of parking fees and a reduction in the Tari and IMU taxes for affected businesses. Transportation issues. "Agree with Ami on a continuous shuttle service connecting the bridge to the beach , thus ensuring access for tourists. The Chamber of Commerce is launching a call for tenders to compensate for the loss of revenue suffered by businesses with operational headquarters at Lido di Volano, drawing on the model already adopted in Bologna for the disruption caused by large-scale construction sites."
